(the remnants of the Alaskan Alpine Club chugging beers and smoking pot at an improvised slideshow)

I had given up on finding any original Waterman materials (the bad copies at the archives were apparently made by Waterman himself in 1979 and all Mount Hunter logs most likely burned down with most of his stuff in the 1980 cabin fire) but one of the guys brought a box which was left in the basement of the old Club headquarters.. Inside I found papers that were left at the Sheldon Mountain house after John's disappearance in 1981, among them this last notebook:

((..?) means things I wasn't able to fill in):

Lone Wolf, A thing of the past
Steppenwolf plods
cross glacier, thou see fall (?)
‚as much lost as found of times‘
There is no hidden meaning, he’s very happy for such
A lonely Man (..?)and(..?)
Der Wolf will ein mal zu Himmel gehen denn er will fliegen (German for 'The wolf wants to go to the sky because he wants to fly')
Les Quise(..?)
I’m a real
livewire
and so are my
Memoss

Recorded a couple of interviews with friends and climbing partners, Carl Tobin told the story of how, when he visited him at the Alaskan Psychiatric Institute John would play the piano and sing of climbing when he was 15 (the API is now in a different building across from the old one but the piano is still the same one) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8itxTAlfOs
