Part of critter log:
Pony- following, pushy backpack assault, friendly. --Unidentified night bird- call in the dark, starts with harrumph followed by loud bright shriek, last time sounded flying right above me, possibly territorial disturbance. --Black scarabeus beetle- found undoing camp in the earth right next to air mattress, missing part of one lower limb, limping away in unaccommodating direction, choosy about spot, plant with handful of loose earth thrown atop for the win. --Unidentified night.. bird?- sound unlike anything ever heard, low, bit like snoring sheep or mumbling horse, scary at first, then rhythm structure akin to cooing pigeons. --Unknown bugs below the trees- night active, size of roaches, loud munchers (heard chewing on cereal bar leftovers at bag next to my head, respectful when pushing bag away and asking to be left alone. --Rock partridges- big drama queens, havoc when still not even close, usually startling me more than them.
